Misadventures in Jakarta: The Long Lunch

My brother-in-law invited us to lunch. What we thought was a fairly short drive (keep in mind that this is overcrowded Jakarta) to his house turned out to be over an hour's drive to the middle of nowhere just to eat seafood (in Sentul which is 35km away and not even near the coast). The trip was so long that everyone fell asleep (except the driver of course).

I had to make the picture hazy as my husband said it was embarrassing
Finally we arrived.

The food was delicious if unusual looking.
Fish with chilli sambal cooked in a hollowed out bamboo

After eating we stopped by a mosque to pray.

We returned after sunset. It was almost a whole day's trip for what would have taken about an hour's drive in Sydney took about 3 hours in Jakarta (and that's one way).
